Imogen Barford will be a member of the jury for the Youth Competition. She will also hold a masterclass on Wednesday 23 April at 10.00am.
Imogen Barford is Head of Harp at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. Her
free-lance career has covered an extremely wide range of activities: solo recitals and concertos; hundreds of chamber music concerts with her own group ‘JEUX’, and many London appearances at the South Bank, Wigmore Hall, and King’s Place as a chamber musician, as well as chamber music tours through Europe, the USA and Canada.
Imogen’s orchestral experience includes work with all the major London symphony and chamber orchestras, as well as opera, ballet, and film work, radio and TV broadcasts, recordings and foreign tours. Her commitment to contemporary music has led to numerous first performances, and commissioning awards, most recently a PRS award.
In 2013 Imogen began commissioning a series of harp solo works from prominent British composers, starting with Simon Holt and Robert Saxton. Imogen’s work in early music has covered Baroque double harp and medieval/renaissance harps. Imogen has given numerous masterclasses internationally, and is much in demand as an examiner for the major music colleges, and as an adjudicator for competitions and festivals.
