Late Night Music: The Live Tradition

Welsh traditional harp tunes and folk songs with Mair Tomos Ifans, Sioned Webb and Arfon Gwilym.


Three singers and instrumentalists rooted in the folk song and penillion singing tradition of Merionethshire. They have performed all over Wales and overseas and they also sing regularly at plygain services. Mair is a winner of the Lady Herbert Lewis prize (folk singing) in the National Eisteddfod, is a storyteller, harpist and actress. Sioned is a winner of the John Weston Thomas (triple harp) prize in the National Eisteddfod, and is a music tutor, composer and author. Arfon is a folk singer and specialises in the tradition of penillion singing or cerdd dant; he is also the author of articles and books on the Welsh musical tradition.
